2025 Annual Donations Announced
Shingobee Township recently distributed donation checks to several non-profit organizations. The donations were made upon recommendation of township electors in attendance at the annual meeting conducted during March. Shingobee Township allocates a small part of its annual tax levy (4% during 2025) for distribution to area organizations which provide services that enhance the quality of life for township residents.
Donations for 2025 totaled $5,500 and included $250 to Cass County Agricultural Assocation for the county fair, $1,000 to Cass County Museum and Historical Society, $500 to Faith In Action for Cass County, $250 to Jackpine Stables, $250 to Lakes Area Dive Team, $2,000 to Lake May Senior Center, $250 to Support Within Reach, and $1,000 to Walker Area Food Shelf.
Additionally, during 2025, the township has made several contributions to the City of Walker to offset operating costs of city run facilities including $20,000 for the Dale and Harriet Jones Walker Public Library, $7,000 for the Walker Evergreen Cemetery, and $,2500 for the outdoor skating rink.
2024 Township Donations Total $8,500 + Something for the New Library
Upon recommendation of township electors in attendance at the annual meeting conducted during March, Shingobee Township recently awarded donation checks to several organizations. Shingobee Township allocates a small part of its levy (4% during 2024) for distribution to area organizations which provide services that benefit township residents.
Donations for 2024 totaled $8,500 and included $250 to Cass County Agricultural Association for the county fair, $1,000 to Cass County Museum and Historical Society, $250 to Crisis Line & Referral Service, $500 to Cass County Faith in Action, $250 to Family Safety Network, $250 to Lakes Area Dive Team, $2,000 to Lake May Center, $250 to Support Within Reach, $2,000 to Walker Area Community Center, $750 to Walker Area Food Shelf, $500 to Walker Bay Theatre, and $500 to Walker Area Foundation for Walker on the 4th.
Additionally, $20,000 was contributed to the new Dale and Harriet Jones Walker Public Library for ongoing operational and maintenance needs.
Township Contributes $7,000 in 2023
Shingobee Township recently awarded a total of $7,000.00 in financial contributions to local nonprofit organizations. The organizations deliver a wide array of resources which serve to enhance the quality of life for area residents. Donation requests were considered during the Township Annual Meeting conducted the second Tuesday of March. Representatives from several of the organizations met at Shingobee Town Hall prior to a recent town board meeting to accept their respective contributions.
2023 donations included $250.00 to the Cass County Fair, $1,000.00 to Cass County Museum & Historical Society, $250.00 to Crisis Line & Referral Service, $500.00 to Faith in Action for Cass County, $250.00 to Family Safety Network, $2,000.00 to Lake May Center, $250.00 to Lakes Area Dive Team, $250.00 to Support Within Reach, $750.00 to Walker Area Food Shelf, $500.00 to Walker Bay Theatre, and $1,000.00 to WHA Community Education for the summer recreation program.
In addition to the donations considered at the annual meeting, Shingobee Township contributed $7,000.00 to the City of Walker toward operating costs associated with operation of the Walker Evergreen Cemetery as well as $2,500.00 toward the operating costs of the outdoor ice rink this past winter and $750.00 to the Cass County Economic Development Corporation.

2022 Township Donations Total $8,000
Shingobee Township recently awarded a total of $8,000 in financial contributions to several area organizations. The organizations deliver a wide array of resources which serve to enhance the quality of life for area residents. Donations included $2,000 to Lake May Senior Center, $2,000 to Walker Area Community Center, $1,000 to Cass County Historical Society & Museum, $750 to Walker Area Food Shelf, $500 each to Cass County Faith in Action and Walker Bay Theatre and $250 each to the Cass County Fair Board, Crisis Line & Referral Service, Family Safety Network, Lakes Area Dive Team and Support Within Reach.

2015 Township Donations
Shingobee Township recently announced the list of organizations receiving monetary support for 2015. Part of the annual township levy is allocated to public service and contributions are made pursuant to state statutory guidelines. The annual donations for 2015 totaled $14,800 and were to: Cass County Fair Board ($150), Cass County Historical Society and Museum ($1,000), Crisis Line & Referral Service ($250), Faith in Action for Cass County ($750), Family Safety Network ($750), HOWA Family Center ($500), Senior Leech Lakers ($2,000), Walker Area Food Shelf ($200), Walker Community Center ($6,000), WHA Community Education Summer Recreation ($2,500), Minnesota Folklore Theatre ($500) and the Itasca Moraine Chapter of the North Country Trail ($200).
2014 Township Donations
Shingobee Township made financial contributions to several area organizations this past spring. The contributions totaled $16,450. Representatives from some of the organizations accepted the donations at the Shingobee Town Hall. Organizations receiving financial support included Cass County Historical Society ($1,000), Walker Area Community Center ($6,000), WHA Community Education Summer Recreation Program ($2,500), Cass County Faith in Action ($750), Crisis Line and Referral Service ($250), Family Safety Network ($750), HOWA Family Center ($600), Lakes Area Dive Team ($500), Lutheran Social Services Senior Nutrition ($400), Senior Leech Lakers ($2,000), Walker Area Food Shelf ($500), and the Walker Public Library ($700). Shingobee Township also contributed $500 to the Cass County Aquatic Invasive Species Plan Initiative. Part of Shingobee Township's annual levy is for public service and is used to benefit the town in accordance with Minnesota Statutes.

Donations for 2013 totaling $14,550.00 included: $250.00 to Boys and Girls Club of Leech Lake - Walker Chapter, $150.00 to Cass County Agricultural Assn, $1,000.00 to Cass County Historical Society, $750.00 to Faith in Action for Cass County , $600.00 to HOWA Family Center, $200.00 to Let's Go Fishing, $2,000.00 to Senior Leech Lakers, $6,000.00 to Walker Area Community Center, $2,500.00 to WHA Community Education Summer Recreation Program, $400.00 to Walker LSS Senior Nutrition and $700.00 to the Walker Public Library.
